Ath na Long — Ford of the ships
'The Ford of the Ships' may refer to the raids made by Viking long boats on Mourne during the early Christian period.
Annalong is a small fishing village and was a centre of smuggling and stonework in the past.

The village boasts a very picturesque harbour and restored cornmill, both of which have inspired many artists. The water wheel at the cornmill can be seen in operation during guided tours.
Set against a magnificent panorama of the Mountains of Mourne the Annalong area is an excellent base for exploring a varied and unspoint coastline.
