Cranfield
Beach has been awarded the prestigious Blue Flag, which is
given to beaches and marinas across Europe that meet strict criteria
for water quality.
Cranfield Beach operates the internationally
recognised lifeguard flags.
Facilities include:

The area is also ideal for water sports and there are excellent caravan
and camping facilities, which are situated along side the beach.
Water Sports
Much of Newry and Mourne is coastal, offering great opportunities
for water sports. Sheltered harbours and clean beaches allow easy
access to Carlingford Lough and the Irish Sea.

Swimming
Use the patrolled bathing area. Always swim in company. Don't swim
for at least an hour after meals, after drinking alcohol, when you
are cold or tired, if you feel unwell, if red flags are flying.
Belly-Boards
Stay with your board; don't go out too far. Parents should note
that it is very easy to get swept out to sea by wind or tide on
these boards and that children are most vulnerable.
Snorkelling
Don't snorkel in rough seas, unless you are a good swimmer, or if
you have a breathing problem.
Diving
Diving can be dangerous, think before you dive, diving into shallow
water carries a risk of a broken neck of paralysis, check the depth
and look for hidden obstacles.
Jet skis &
Boats
Keep outside the patrolled bathing area at all times, be considerate
of all water users; enquire about local regulations.
Windsurfing
Keep outside the patrolled bathing area at all times, be considerate
of all water users, make sure you check:- your equipment, weather
forecasts, local conditions and local regulations.
Do:
Sail in company, be aware of your limitations; carry a distress
signal.
Don't: Be a liability, sail in poor
visibility or at night.
