With the weather hotting up for summer, Newry & Mourne District Council is pleased to announce that Cranfield Beach has been awarded Blue Flag and seaside award status for the 2012 season, and are urging people to take a trip to our award winning beach at Cranfield to dip a toe in the sea or have a picnic or just enjoy our stunning coastline.
Cranfield beach is set in an idyllic location at the mouth of Carlingford Lough, with the majestic Mourne Mountains as a dramatic backdrop.
The long, south facing beach offers excellent facilities for all visitors whether it be for a gentle stroll or for more strenuous water based activities and provides the perfect setting for the family with a wide expanse of sand and clean bathing water.
Cranfield Beach has been awarded the prestigious Resort Seaside Award, which is given to beaches and marinas across Europe that meet strict criteria for water quality.
Cranfield Beach operates the internationally recognised lifeguard flags.
The area is also ideal for water sports and there are excellent caravan and camping facilities, which are situated along side the beach.
