20th October - Ring of Gullion Star Party October

20th October - Ring of Gullion Star Party October The people who built the highest surviving passage tomb in Ireland at the top of Slieve Gullion must have been astronomers, they knew about the Winter Solstice, where the sun would set, and they built a passage tomb taking advantage of the setting sun on the shortest day of the year to illuminate the chamber inside. This took precise astronomical observations and must have been extremely important to local people at the time. So, if you want to walk in the footsteps of your ancestors, albeit with telescopes and binoculars, join us to look up into the sky to learn a little bit more about what's out there.
